Film Sound

Great City Productions is equipped and staffed for all aspects of film audio post-production. Chief engineers Ian Stynes and Britt Myers will fully sound supervise your audio post-production project, assembling an experienced team of sound designers, mixers and editors. Each client receives personal attention and project management directly from Ian and Britt.

The live room features a recording space that is perfectly suited for ADR and loop group, and the built-in foley pits and large viewing monitor have every foley artist feeling at home. Studio A and B are both equipped for 5.1 surround mixing and sound design.

Recent film projects include:

-The New Tenants; starring Vincent D’Onofio, directed by Joachim Back. Winner of the 2010 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short.

-Bass Ackwards; starring and directed by Linas Phillips, 2010 Sundance selection.

-Passing Strange; directed by Spike Lee and based on the Broadway musical, starring Stew and Heidi Rodewald; Sundance 09 premiere (score mixer, ADR recordist, score editor)

-The Exploding Girl; Berlin Film Festival 09 premiere, Tribeca 09 screening (re-recording mixer). Theatrical release in March 2010. Great reviews here and here.

-True Adolescents; starring Mark Duplass (Baghead) and Oscar-nominated actress Melissa Leo (Frozen River); SXSW 09 film premiere (supervising sound editor, sound design, re-recording mixer)

-Children of Invention; Sundance premiere (sound post production facility)

-Split: A Divided America; on IFC (sound design, re-recording mixer)

Ian Stynes joined the Great City team in December 2007, bringing with him a wealth of film mixing experience. Before joining Great City, Ian worked on a wide array of film projects as a re-recording mixer: Sundance 2007 “Special Jury Prize” winner The Pool, directed by Chris Smith (American Movie / The Yes Men), HBO documentary The Recruiter, directed by Edet Belzberg (2001 Sundance winner for The Children Underground), The Weinstein Company film Grace is Gone by director James Strouse (starring John Cusack) and Operation Filmmaker, directed by Nina Davenport starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Liev Schreiber.
